Defence CNC Machining in Ontario
VisionForge is a Canadian-owned precision machine shop in Mississauga, Ontario, building the quality and regulatory posture required for Canadian defence work. CGP (Controlled Goods Program) registration is currently under Government of Canada review — the Designated Official exam has been passed. AS9100D is in process. Equipment: a 2025 Matsuura MX-520 simultaneous 5-axis centre and a Fanuc Robodrill α-T14iAL, housed in a climate-controlled facility held at 20°C ±1°.
Where VisionForge stands on Canadian defence compliance
Defence work in Canada is gated by CGP registration, and we want to be explicit about where we sit:
- CGP status: Under Government of Canada review. The Designated Official exam has been passed and the application is with the federal Controlled Goods Directorate. We can discuss program fit once CGP status is confirmed. See Quality & Certifications.
- AS9100D status: In process. Many defence-adjacent aerospace programs accept suppliers under supplier-approval agreements while AS9100D completes — we can provide the documentation required to support that approval.
- ITAR: We do not claim ITAR registration. Defence programs that require ITAR should work with an ITAR-registered supplier.
- Canadian ownership: VisionForge is Canadian-owned and operated from Mississauga. All production work happens in-house on the MX-520 and the Robodrill, inside our facility.
If your program needs CGP today, we can still begin quoting and planning so that production starts the week registration confirms. We do not misrepresent our status to move a program faster.
What VisionForge brings to defence work
- Simultaneous 5-axis machining on the 2025 Matsuura MX-520 for complex defence housings, fittings, and compound-contour parts. 20k RPM spindle, 1 micron repeatable accuracy.
- Palletized 3-axis capacity on the Fanuc Robodrill α-T14iAL for higher-volume defence parts and auxiliary components. Work envelope 700 × 380 × 330 mm.
- Climate-controlled facility held at 20°C ±1° — consistent conditions for tight-tolerance defence components in thermally sensitive materials.
- Tight in-house tolerance at ±0.0001", with partner CMM inspection to ±0.0002".
- Material traceability on request, certifications retained per job.
- Single accountable contact from RFQ through first article and production. No handoffs between a salesperson, an estimator, and a production planner.
Typical defence parts we machine
- Precision housings and enclosures in Ti-6Al-4V and 6061-T6
- Mounting brackets, adapter plates, and interface components
- Valve bodies, manifolds, and hydraulic components
- Fittings and connector bodies in stainless 17-4 PH and 316
- Instrument-grade parts in Invar 36 for thermal stability
- Low-volume production, 10–500 piece runs, with first-article inspection
- Prototype and engineering-development hardware ahead of program release
Once CGP registration is confirmed, we can discuss controlled-goods program fit directly. Until then, we can scope and quote work that does not fall under controlled-goods reporting.
Materials we machine for defence programs
- Titanium: Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), Grade 2 CP
- Superalloys: Inconel 625, Inconel 718
- Stainless: 17-4 PH (H900, H1025, H1150), 304, 316, 416
- Aluminum: 6061-T6, 7075-T6, 2024
- Thermally stable: Invar 36
- Engineered plastics: PEEK, G10, Acetal
Material certifications on request, traceable to the mill. In-house vibratory finishing is available as a machining add-on for deburring and edge break on deburr-critical defence parts.
Quality system and documentation for defence work
- Tolerance: ±0.0001" in-house. ±0.0002" through an ISO 9001 partner CMM.
- FAI and PPAP support: first-article inspection packages and PPAP-style documentation on request.
- In-process inspection: probing on the MX-520, thermal compensation, climate-controlled conditions at 20°C ±1°.
- Material certifications: traceable to the mill, retained per job.
- Document retention: drawings, travellers, and inspection records retained per our quality system.
- Cert status: CGP registration under Government of Canada review. AS9100D in process. ISO 9001 partner operations.
How to engage
- Send a drawing or STEP file. PDF plus 3D model preferred. For programs where drawings cannot yet be shared, send a capability question — we can respond with equipment fit and material coverage without needing the print.
- DFM feedback during quoting. We flag feature-level issues in the quote — fixture conflicts, stack-up risks, tool access — before you commit to a first-article run.
- One contact through the program. RFQ, first article, production, and re-orders all go through the same person.
- Supplier onboarding. We can complete a defence supplier package, including material traceability and inspection-reporting format requirements.

FAQ
Is VisionForge CGP-registered?
CGP (Controlled Goods Program) registration is currently under Government of Canada review. The Designated Official exam has been passed and the application is with the federal Controlled Goods Directorate. We can discuss controlled-goods programs once registration is confirmed.
Is VisionForge ITAR-registered?
No. We do not claim ITAR registration. Defence programs that require ITAR-registered suppliers should work with an ITAR-registered shop.
Is VisionForge AS9100D certified?
AS9100D certification is in process. We are not yet certified and do not claim to be. Many of our defence-adjacent aerospace customers work with us under a supplier-approval agreement while certification completes.
What defence materials do you machine?
Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 625, Inconel 718, 17-4 PH stainless (H900, H1025, H1150), 304/316/416 stainless, 6061-T6 and 7075-T6 aluminum, 2024 aluminum, Invar 36, and engineered plastics including PEEK and G10. Material certifications available on request, traceable to the mill.
What tolerances can you hold on defence components?
±0.0001" in-house on the 2025 Matsuura MX-520 and the Fanuc Robodrill α-T14iAL. Final CMM verification to ±0.0002" is available through our ISO 9001 partner.
Can we start quoting now and produce once CGP clears?
Yes. Quoting, DFM review, fixture planning, and supplier onboarding can begin in parallel with CGP review. Production on controlled-goods parts begins the week CGP registration confirms.
Is VisionForge Canadian-owned?
Yes. VisionForge Inc. is Canadian-owned and operated from Mississauga, Ontario.
