Quality and Certifications
Single source of truth for VisionForge's certification status, tolerance capability, and quality documentation. Every cert claim elsewhere on the site is backed by the language on this page.
If there is any gap between a statement on another page and what is written here, this page governs.
Tolerance capability
- In-house tolerance: ±0.0001" on both the 2025 Matsuura MX-520 and the Fanuc Robodrill α-T14iAL, on features where the drawing calls for it.
- Final CMM verification: ±0.0002" through our ISO 9001 partner.
- Facility: climate-controlled machining environment held at 20°C ±1° during operating hours.
- Repeatable accuracy of the MX-520: 1 micron (0.001 mm).
These tolerances are verified through inspection, not assumed. Every job with tolerance-critical features runs under a documented inspection plan, and the final dimensional report accompanies the shipment on request. See equipment for machine-level detail.
AS9100D
Status: AS9100D in process. We are actively working toward AS9100D certification, the aerospace quality management standard built on ISO 9001. We are not yet certified and we do not claim to be.
What this means for customers:
- AS9100D-style quality disciplines — document control, change management, FAI, PPAP, corrective action, supplier qualification — are being built into our operation during the certification process.
- Parts we ship today are inspected, documented, and traceable at the level an aerospace customer expects for approved-supplier work under the customer's quality system.
- Timeline to certification — we will update this page with the certification date once awarded. We will not publish claims beyond current status.
Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
Status: CGP registration under Government of Canada review. The Designated Official exam has been passed. Registration is proceeding through the standard Government of Canada review process.
- CGP registration allows Canadian companies to possess, examine, or transfer controlled goods and controlled technology — the category of defence-sensitive items covered under the Defence Production Act.
- VisionForge is a Canadian-owned, Canadian-operated precision CNC machine shop. CGP registration is the gate that qualifies us to accept controlled-goods work from Canadian defence primes and tiered defence suppliers.
- We will update this page when registration is complete. We do not claim CGP registered status until the Government of Canada confirms registration.
What CGP is not: CGP is the Canadian framework; it is not ITAR. We are not ITAR-registered. Defence CNC machining →
ISO 9001 partner operations
Operations performed by certified partner shops:
- Live-tool CNC turning — ISO 9001 partner
- Precision grinding — ISO 9001 partner
- CMM inspection — ISO 9001 partner, to ±0.0002"
Partner operation records, CMM reports, and certificates of conformance pass through to the customer with the parts. One RFQ, one PO, one coordinated delivery — VisionForge carries the coordination overhead so the customer doesn't. Turning, grinding & CMM →
VisionForge itself is not yet ISO 9001 certified. We operate under AS9100D-aligned quality disciplines (AS9100D is the aerospace expansion of ISO 9001) and are pursuing AS9100D directly rather than ISO 9001 as a separate certification.
Documentation available
We provide the following documentation on request, per the customer's PO:
- First Article Inspection (FAI) reports in AS9102 format (or the customer's format)
- PPAP-style documentation — prepared per the customer's format requirements
- Material certifications — traceable to the mill (or, for engineering plastics, to the supplier)
- Heat-treatment certifications — passed through from qualified finishing partners when heat treat is in scope
- CMM dimensional reports — from the ISO 9001 partner CMM
- Certificates of conformance — VisionForge CofC plus partner CofCs when partner operations are in scope
- In-process inspection records — maintained per job, available on request
What we do not claim
In the interest of avoiding mis-matched RFQs, we are explicit about the certifications we do not hold:
- We are not AS9100D certified. AS9100D is in process.
- We are not CGP registered yet. CGP registration is under Government of Canada review.
- We are not ISO 9001 certified directly. Our partner operations run under ISO 9001.
- We are not ISO 13485 certified. Medical device customers work with us as an approved supplier under their own ISO 13485 QMS.
- We are not ITAR registered. ITAR is a US framework and does not apply to our current operation.
- We are not NADCAP accredited. NADCAP accredits specialized processes (heat treat, NDT, coatings) — we coordinate those through qualified finishing partners.

FAQ
Are you AS9100D certified?
No. AS9100D is in process. We are actively working toward the certification and run AS9100D-aligned quality disciplines today. Until certification is confirmed by the registrar, we will not claim certified status.
Can you accept controlled-goods work?
Not until CGP registration is complete. Registration is under Government of Canada review; the Designated Official exam has been passed. We will update this page when registration is confirmed.
Are you ISO 9001 certified?
Not directly. Our partner operations for turning, grinding, and CMM inspection run under ISO 9001. We are pursuing AS9100D — which is built on ISO 9001 — rather than seeking ISO 9001 separately.
Can medical device customers work with you?
Yes, as an approved supplier under the customer's ISO 13485 quality management system. We are not ISO 13485 certified ourselves.
What documentation do you provide with shipments?
FAI reports, PPAP-style documentation, material certifications, heat-treatment certifications (when applicable), CMM dimensional reports, and certificates of conformance — all on request per the customer's PO.
What tolerances do you hold?
±0.0001" in-house, verified by calibrated measurement. ±0.0002" through our ISO 9001 partner CMM for final dimensional verification. The climate-controlled 20°C ±1° facility supports consistent tolerance performance across the day.
Will you update this page when certifications complete?
Yes. This page governs every cert claim made on our site and is updated the week a certification is confirmed.
